neo-capsul & neo-restraint

ParAid RollaChair, a new generation of hospital patient transporter has just been launched to help stamp out MRSA, save the health service large sums of money and improve patient care.

RollaChair has ABS moulded modular components on an L shaped metal chassis. Unlike traditional wheelchairs, it has no fabric or seams to harbour germs and can easily and effectively be cleaned by pressure washing or wiped down with antiseptic.

Whereas missing wheelchairs cost hospitals thousands of pounds every year, RollaChair’s bulky frame and small roller wheels make it easy to operate within hospitals, and harder to steal.

Designed in consultation with health professionals and patients, RollaChair has many features to make life easier; its nesting design - similar to a shopping trolley - allows it to be stored neatly, taking up little space in wards and lobbies; an IV support pole as a fixed component; a holder for patient notes; armrests that rotate upwards to allow patients to access and exit from either side.

Forward thinking hospitals can also use the back panel of the chair to generate revenue as advertising space.

IBEX TranSeat Wins
Product
Design Award

Evac+Chair’s IBEX TranSeat patient transporter has been acknowledged for its innovation, scooping first in the Medical Product category and runner-up in the Transport category at the Birmingham Design Initiative Industry & Genius Awards 2005.

IBEX TranSeat is a stair climber and descender that grips the stairs and controls the rate of descent with an adjustable braking system. Not only does the IBEX TranSeat appeal to the rescue services, but it also now plays a valuable part in aircraft passenger handling and in high-rise buildings.

With just 15 minutes training, most paramedics have the competency to use IBEX TranSeat safely and within their capabilities without fear of causing injury to themselves or the patient. The device will ascend a stair with the application of minimal force by two operators. The patient is never elevated above ground level and is never in danger of falling off the TranSeat.

A specially rated ambulance floor-mounting bracket secures the seat in place, whereas for buildings a simple wall bracket fixing ensures it is always ready for use. It can even accommodate staircases with over 45-degrees angle of descent, quarter landings, carpeted stairs and obstacles such as doorframes and storm guards.
The judges praised the product as being ‘an innovative patient transport solution’ that uses ‘some ingenious engineering solutions’.
